Little Red Riding Hood
Once upon a time, in a cozy yet forest-edge home, lived a little girl known as Little Red Riding Hood. Her cottage was filled with handmade quilts and tinkling wind chimes, casting a warm but slightly eerie glow from the old lanterns. One sunny morning, Little Red’s mother called her into the kitchen. "Grandmother is feeling sick," she said, handing Little Red a basket of goodies. "Take this basket to her, but remember: stay on the path, and don't talk to strangers." Little Red Riding Hood nodded solemnly. "I will, Mother," she promised, slipping on her red cloak and tying it neatly. She started off into the woods, humming a cheerful tune. The forest air was crisp, and birds sang high in the trees. But soon, Little Red noticed something peculiar. Shadows seemed to dance along the path, making the forest look alive and mysterious. She tightened her grip on the basket and continued. As she walked deeper into the woods, a voice called out, "Good morning, Little Red Riding Hood!" It was the Big Bad Wolf, lurking behind a large oak tree. "Good morning, Mr. Wolf," she replied politely but kept walking. "And where might you be going on such a fine day?" the Wolf asked slyly. "To my grandmother's house, to bring her this basket," Little Red answered, remembering her mother's warning. The Wolf grinned, showing his sharp teeth. "Oh, do say hello to her for me," he said, disappearing into the forest. Little Red hurried along the path, but the Wolf took a shortcut. He reached Grandmother's house first and quickly hatched a plan. Disguising himself in Grandmother’s nightgown, he climbed into bed to wait. When Little Red Riding Hood arrived, she knocked gently on the door. "Grandmother, it's me, Little Red!" "Come in, dear," the Wolf called out in a high-pitched voice. Little Red stepped inside the dimly lit room and approached the bed. She noticed her "grandmother" looked a bit different. "Grandmother, what big eyes you have!" she exclaimed. "All the better to see you with, my dear," the Wolf replied. "And Grandmother, what big ears you have!" Little Red continued. "All the better to hear you with, my dear," the Wolf answered. "And Grandmother, what big teeth you have!" "All the better to eat you with!" roared the Wolf, leaping out of bed. But this time, Little Red was ready. Pulling out a small, enchanted mirror from her basket, she held it up to the Wolf’s face. The mirror glowed, and the Wolf was suddenly frozen, unable to move. Just then, Grandmother emerged from her hiding place in the closet, safe and sound. She had heard the Wolf's plan and hid just in time. "Quick thinking, Little Red!" she praised, hugging her tightly. They both tied up the Wolf, who had transformed back into his usual self, grumbling and defeated. Grandmother called the local woodsmen, who took the Wolf far, far away and promised he’d never bother them again. Little Red Riding Hood and her Grandmother sat down together, sharing the goodies from the basket. They laughed and talked until the sun began to set, feeling cozy and safe once more. From that day on, Little Red always carried the enchanted mirror with her, just in case another adventure awaited. And she never forgot her mother’s wise advice to stay on the path and be cautious of strangers. And they all lived happily ever after. The end.
