Madeline
In an old house in Paris that was covered in vines, Lived twelve little girls in two straight lines. Their teacher Miss Clavel said, "Good night, children! Sleep tight!" The girls responded in chorus with a polite, "Good night!" But one brave girl, named Madeline, always had adventures on her mind, Her spirit was lively, and her heart very kind. One evening, after Miss Clavel turned off the lights, Madeline whispered to her best friend Lulu, "Tonight feels just right." Madeline pointed to the window where the moonlight shone bright, "Let’s sneak out for an adventure; let’s follow the night!" Lulu, curious and brave, readily agreed, And together, they crept, moving with quiet speed. Through the dark house, careful not to make a sound, Madeline and Lulu ventured, excitement unbound. They slipped out the door and into the night, The Parisian streets glistening under the moonlight. “Where are we going?” asked Lulu with a grin, Madeline replied, “Let’s find the cat who lives by the Seine.” By the river, they found the sleek, black cat, With eyes like emeralds and fur dark and flat. The cat meowed softly, leading them away, To a hidden garden just beyond the bay. In the garden stood a statue, ancient and grand, Of a knight from old times, holding a sword in his hand. “Wow!” said Madeline, “Look at this place, Full of secrets and statues covered in grace.” They explored every corner, every nook, Finding old maps and an ancient book. But soon, Miss Clavel realized something wasn’t right; She checked the girls’ room and saw two beds light. In her great habit, she ran through the street, Her heart racing fast, her shoes tapping fleet. Madeline and Lulu, lost in their find, Didn’t notice Miss Clavel coming from behind. With a firm yet gentle grip, Miss Clavel said, “My dear, It’s late and unsafe to be out here.” Madeline looked up with innocent eyes, “We were just exploring,” she said to Miss Clavel’s surprise. Miss Clavel smiled, though concern she felt too, Understanding young hearts crave adventures new. With the girls safely back, tucked in their beds tight, Miss Clavel whispered softly, “Next time, wait for daylight.” Madeline nodded, feeling both scolded and loved, While dreaming of adventures yet undreamed of. And so the old house in Paris continued to host, The twelve little girls who loved adventure the most. And Madeline, with her curiosity bright, Dreamed of mysteries and whispers of the night. From then on, with Miss Clavel’s guiding light, Their adventures would wait for the safety of daylight. In an old house in Paris, covered in vines, The twelve little girls slept in two straight lines.
