The Little Prince
Once, far, far away, there was a little boy who lived on a tiny planet, barely bigger than a house. His name was the Little Prince. His home, Asteroid B-612, had three volcanoes, a rose he cared for very much, and a chair just right for watching sunsets. One day, feeling curious and ready for adventure, the Little Prince left his planet. His journey led him to travel across the stars, where he visited many strange and wonderful worlds. The first planet he visited was home to a king, sitting on a golden throne. The king liked to give orders, even though no one was there to follow them. "Can you make the sun set?" the Little Prince asked. "Of course," said the king, "but you must wait until it’s time for the sunset." The Little Prince found this peculiar and left in search of someone who could understand him. He then landed on a planet with a very vain man who thought everyone adored him. The encounter wasn't much fun, so the Little Prince moved on. Soon he visited a planet where a drunk man lived alone. Sadly, the man drank to forget something, but he had forgotten what! Finding this too puzzling, the Little Prince continued his travels. On the next planet was a businessman who counted stars, thinking he owned them. The Little Prince didn't understand why anyone would want to own stars, so he left. One of the final worlds was inhabited by a lamplighter. He was the only sensible adult but was too busy lighting lamps to enjoy anything, so the Little Prince sadly bid him farewell and moved on. At last, he arrived on Earth and met a wise fox. "Will you play with me?" asked the Little Prince. "I can't," said the fox. "I’m not tamed." "What does 'tamed' mean?" the Little Prince inquired. "It means to establish ties," the fox explained. "To me, you're just a little boy like hundreds of thousands of other little boys. But if you tame me, we will need each other and become unique to each other." The Little Prince thought deeply. He spent many days with the fox, learning about love and friendship. Finally, the time came to move on. The Little Prince next met a pilot who had crashed in the desert. The pilot was scared and alone until he saw the Little Prince. "Will you draw me a sheep?" asked the Little Prince. Surprised but wanting to help, the pilot drew several sheep until one, hidden in a box, was just right. Days passed, filled with stories and laughter. The pilot felt a bond forming, just as the fox had described. The Little Prince spoke fondly of his rose and realized he missed her deeply. "I must return to my planet," said the Little Prince one evening. "I love my rose, and she needs me." Though it was difficult, the pilot understood and helped the Little Prince find a way back to his planet. Standing there under the twinkling stars, the pilot knew he would always carry the lessons of friendship in his heart, like shimmering memories. And somewhere, among the stars, the Little Prince happily watched sunsets and tended to his beloved rose, cherishing the friends he made along his incredible journey. This simple story about love, loss, and finding meaning in friendship forever stayed with those who heard it, reminding them to look at the world with the wonder of a child's heart.
