Pigeon
Once upon a time, in a cozy, slightly eerie attic nestled above a small, quiet house, lived a young pigeon named Percy. The attic was filled with mysterious old trunks, dusty books, and forgotten toys. Shadows danced on the wooden beams, creating shapes that tickled Percy’s curiosity. Every evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon and twilight filled the attic with a magical glow, Percy would perch by the single round window, letting the cool breeze ruffle his feathers. It was a calm and tranquil life, until one night, a strange flickering light appeared in the distance. Percy squinted and saw tiny sparks from what looked like a little fire far away in the forest. Determined to find out what was happening, Percy knew an adventure awaited him. Fluffing up his feathers, Percy gathered a little knapsack with some crumbs for the journey. His best friend, a small, wise owl named Ollie, watched from his perch and asked, "Where are you off to, Percy?" “There's a strange light in the forest, Ollie. I think someone might need our help!” Percy answered, trying to sound braver than he felt. Ollie spread his wings, “Well, you can’t go alone. I'll join you.” With a nod of agreement, the two friends flew across the moonlit sky towards the source of the flickering light. The forest below looked dark and mysterious, but Percy and Ollie’s hearts were filled with courage. As they neared the glow, they spotted a group of fireflies frantically circling a small clearing. Percy swooped down and landed gently among the fireflies. “Hello there,” Percy cooed softly, “What’s the matter?” A flickering firefly, buzzing faster than the rest, replied, “Our treasure box! It’s lost in that spooky old treehouse. None of us are brave enough to get it back.” Ollie nodded wisely, “Don’t worry. Percy and I will help you.” With instructions from the fireflies, Percy and Ollie flew towards the ancient treehouse. The branches creaked in the wind, and the leaves rustled mysteriously. The treehouse sat perched high among the branches, looking both inviting and foreboding in the moonlight. "Here we go," Percy said, flapping his wings more determinedly. He darted into the treehouse, with Ollie close behind. Inside, they found an old box covered in cobwebs. Percy, with a careful peck, loosened the lid. Sparkling treasures—flowers made of shiny dewdrops and tiny twinkling stars—filled the box. Together, Percy and Ollie carried the box back to the fireflies, who buzzed around them in joy, their lights glowing brighter than ever. “Thank you, Percy! Thank you, Ollie!” the fireflies cheered. Back in the attic, Percy and Ollie perched by the round window, watching the fireflies’ glow fade into the distance. “That was quite the adventure,” Percy sighed happily. Ollie nodded, “Indeed, Percy. Who knew a pigeon and an owl could be the heroes of the night?” As the first light of dawn peeped through the window, the two friends dozed off, dreaming of more adventures to come. And so, in their cozy, slightly eerie attic, Percy and Ollie were reminded that sometimes, even the smallest of us can shine the brightest in times of need.
