Oviraptor
In the cozy and slightly eerie corner of a young boy named Leo's bedroom, a soft nightlight cast gentle shadows over his collection of glowing dinosaur figurines and piles of adventure books. The curtains fluttered as if whispering secrets from a distant age. It was Leo's favorite time of day, just before bedtime, when magic always seemed possible. Leo lay in bed, staring at his favorite dinosaur book, when suddenly a shimmering, mysterious light flashed outside his window. Intrigued, he jumped out of bed and peered out. To his astonishment, he saw a glowing portal floating just beyond the reach of the curtains. "Whoa, what's that?" he whispered to himself, his heart thumping with excitement. Without hesitation, Leo put on his adventure hat and grabbed his trusty flashlight. He tiptoed past his snoozing dog, Max, and carefully opened the window. As he leaned out, the portal seemed to pull him closer until he was gently swallowed by its light. He landed softly in a lush, prehistoric forest. Ancient trees stretched high with leaves that glittered like emeralds, and the air was filled with the distant calls of dinosaurs. His eyes widened in amazement. Then, from the bushes, a small, colorful dinosaur emerged. It looked like a bird, but with a long tail and small, sharp claws. Leo knew instantly what it was from his books. "An Oviraptor!" he gasped, trying to stay still and hidden. The Oviraptor, with its bright feathers shining in the prehistoric sunlight, turned its head curiously towards Leo. It made a friendly squawk and waddled over, nudging Leo’s knee gently with its beak. “You're not scary at all,” Leo said, giggling. “You’re kind of cute!” The Oviraptor chirped happily as if it understood. It motioned with its head towards a large nest in the distance. Leo could see that the nest was filled with large, colorful eggs. But some of the eggs were scattered outside the nest, looking oddly out of place. “Are those your eggs?” Leo asked. The Oviraptor squawked again, and Leo decided he needed to help. Careful not to disturb the fragile eggs, Leo started to pick them up and place them back in the nest. The Oviraptor stayed close, watching him with trusting eyes. As Leo worked, he noticed something glinting from the corner of his eye. It was the portal, shimmering as if waiting for him to return. “I guess it’s almost time to go,” he said, a hint of sadness in his voice. But as he placed the last egg safely in the nest, the Oviraptor chirped and gently nudged a small, feathered toy towards him—a token of gratitude. “Thanks, little buddy,” Leo said, smiling. “I won’t ever forget you.” He stood up, gave the Oviraptor a final pat, and walked towards the portal. With a flash, Leo was back in his bedroom, the cool night air brushing his cheeks through the open window. He looked down at the feathered toy in his hand and smiled. “Best bedtime adventure ever,” he whispered to himself, clambering back into bed. The nightlight cast playful shadows over his room, but this time, the shadows seemed to carry a special hint of the adventures to come.
