Are You My Mother?
In a cozy little nest high up in a tall tree, a mother bird sat patiently waiting for her egg to hatch. One sunny morning, the egg began to wiggle and crack, and out popped a tiny, fluffy bird with eyes wide with curiosity. Curious and excited, the baby bird looked around but couldn’t see his mother. With a brave little puff of his chest, he decided to set off on an adventure to find her. He hopped to the edge of the nest and, with a tiny flutter, floated safely to the ground below. “Are you my mother?” the baby bird asked a nearby kitten, whose green eyes sparkled in the sunlight. The kitten tilted its head and purred, “No, little bird, I’m not your mother. Keep looking.” Determined, the baby bird waddled over to a shy puppy that was busy chasing its tail. “Are you my mother?” the little bird chirped hopefully. The puppy barked joyfully and replied, “No, I’m not your mother, but she must be somewhere nearby.” Undeterred, the baby bird continued his journey and came across a splendid horse grazing in a meadow. “Are you my mother?” asked the bird, staring up at the horse’s tall frame. The horse neighed gently, “No, I am not your mother, but I wish you good luck in finding her.” Feeling a bit tired but still determined, the baby bird spotted a massive and colorful hot air balloon drifting down from the sky. Maybe, he thought, his mother was up high where birds love to fly. “Are you my mother?” he called out as the balloon landed softly on the grassy field. The balloonist, a cheerful person with a big smile, shook their head kindly and said, “No, little bird, but don’t lose hope! Keep searching.” Just then, a familiar sound echoed through the air. It was a gentle “chirp, chirp” that the baby bird recognized instantly. He turned around and saw his mother bird swooping down from the sky. “Mother! It’s you!” the baby bird chirped excitedly, flapping his tiny wings with joy. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you,” said the mother bird, wrapping her wings lovingly around her little one. “You were so brave to go on such an adventure!” Together, they flew back up to the nest in the tall tree, where the baby bird nestled safely under his mother’s wing. With a heart full of love and a head full of new friends he'd met along the way, he snuggled close, ready to dream of his next adventure—but this time, with his mother right by his side.
